CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP RULES

1.THE TOURNAMENT IS OPEN TO ANY MEMBER OF ORKNEY GOLF CLUB.

2. ALL MEMBERS MAY TEE OFF FROM THE MARKERS THEIR HANDICAPS ARE CALCULATED FROM, BUT TO QUALIFY FOR CLUB CHAMPION FOR THE YEAR

– FOR MEN A MEMBER MUST TEE OFF FROM THE BLUE MARKERS,

– AND FOR LADIES FROM THE YELLOW MARKERS.

3. THE RULES OF GOLF AS APPROVED BY R&A RULES WILL APPLY TOGETHER WITH THE LOCAL RULES OF ORKNEY GOLF CLUB.

4. HANDICAP: THE PLAYER’S HANDICAP IN EFFECT AT THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE FIRST ROUND OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP WILL APPLY FOR THE DURATION OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP. (AS PER NATIONAL HANDICAP)

5. THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE:  THE CLUB CAPTAIN, THE VICE-CAPTAIN AND TWO COMMITTEE/CLUB MEMBERS NOMINATED BY THEM.  THIS COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ALTER THE PROGRAMME AND CONDITIONS OF THE EVENT AT ANY TIME, INCLUDING STARTING TIMES. ALL DISPUTES SHALL BE SETTLED BY THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE WHOSE DECISION SHALL BE FINAL. ANY DISPUTE/PROTEST MUST BE LODGED WITHIN 15 MINUTES OF COMPLETION OF THE ROUND. THIS INFORMATION MAY BE REQUESTED IN WRITING.

6. FORMAT MEN: A DIVISION (HANDICAPS 9 & UNDER) – 36 HOLES STROKE PLAY (MEDAL PLAY), B DIVISION (HANDICAPS 10 – 17) – 36 HOLES STROKE PLAY (MEDAL PLAY), C DIVISION (HANDICAPS 18 – 36) – 36 HOLES IPS PLAY.

WINNER A DIVISION BEST GROSS SCORE, WINNER B DIVISION BEST NETT SCORE.

7. FORMAT LADIES: A DIVISION (HANDICAPS 12 & UNDER) – 36 HOLES STROKE PLAY (MEDAL PLAY), B DIVISION (HANDICAPS 13 – 24) – 36 HOLES STROKE PLAY (MEDAL PLAY), C DIVISION (HANDICAPS 25 – 36) – 36 HOLES (IPS).

NOTE – FOR ANY LADY TO BE CLUB CHAMPION YOU MUST PLAY STROKE

PLAY (MEDAL) OVER 36 HOLES IN ANY DIVISION. WINNER B DIVISION BEST NETT SCORE.

8. THE DECIDING OF TIES:  THERE SHALL BE A “SUDDEN DEATH” PLAY-OFF FROM HOLE 1 ONLY FOR A – DIVISION. ALL OTHER TIES WILL BE DECIDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH COUNT-OUT PROCEDURES DETAILED BELOW. IF THE PLAYING OF THE SUDDEN DEATH PLAY-OFF OR CONTINUATION THEREOF IS DEEMED BY THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE TO BE IMPRACTICAL, FOR ANY REASON, THEN THE TROPHY WILL BE SHARED.

9. COUNT-OUT METHOD:  1ST BACK NINE, 2ND ODD HOLES, 3RD HANDICAP, 4TH SPIN OF COIN.

10. TIME AND STARTING: PLAYERS SHALL START AT THE TIME LAID DOWN BY THE COMMITTEE (RULE 6-3A). IF THE PLAYER ARRIVES AT THE STARTING POINT, READY TO PLAY WITHIN FIVE MINUTES AFTER HIS STARTING TIME, IN THE ABSENCE OF CIRCUMSTANCES WITCH WARRANT WAIVING THE PENALTY OF DISQUALIFICATION AS PROVIDED IN RULE 33-7, THE PENALTY FOR THE FAILURE TO START ON TIME IS LOSS OF THE FIRST HOLE IN MATCHPLAY OR TWO STROKES AT THE FIRST HOLE IN STROKE PLAY. PENALTY FOR LATENESS BEYOND FIVE MINUTES IS DISQUALIFICATION.  PLAYERS ARE REQUESTED TO ARRIVE AT THE TEE 10 MINUTES BEFORE STARTING. THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE SHALL HAVE THE POWER TO DELAY THE TIME OF STARTING, IF THEY CONSIDER THAT CIRCUMSTANCES RENDER THIS NECESSARY.

11. TRANSPORT: GOLF CARTS MAY BE USED BY ANY PLAYER IN ANY DIVISION OF THE COMPETITION. THE COMMITTEE MAY CANCEL THE USE OF GOLF CARTS IF DEEMED NECESSARY TO PROTECT THE GOLF COURSE.

12. CANCELLATION OF A ROUND: IN THE EVENT OF PLAY BEING DELAYED OR DECLARED NULL AND VOID FOR ANY ROUND OF A TOURNAMENT, ADDITIONAL PLAY WILL BE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE. IF IN THE OPINION OF THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE, ADVERSE WEATHER OR ANY OTHER OCCURRENCE BEYOND ITS CONTROL RENDER THE COMMENCEMENT OR CONTINUATION OF ANY STIPULATED ROUND IMPRACTICAL, THEN THE RESULT WILL BE DECLARED OVER THE NUMBER OF ROUNDS COMPLETED BY ALL THE PLAYERS. PLAY WILL NOT BE CONTINUED BEYOND THE ADVERTISED FINAL DAY OF THE STOKE PLAY EVENT.

13. THE DRAW:  PLAYERS ARE REMINDED THAT A DRAW WILL BE CONDUCTED ELECTRONICALLY IN THE DIFFERENT DIVISIONS AND HANDICAPS.  PLAYERS IN THE DIFFERENT DIVISIONS WILL BE PAIRED TOGETHER.  THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE MAY CONSIDER ALTERING THE DRAW IN SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES.

14. SCORING & RESULTS: IN STROKE PLAY, A COMPETITOR IS CONSIDERED TO HAVE RETURNED HIS SCORE CARD WHEN HE HAS LEFT THE DESIGNATED SCORING AREA. THE RESULTS ARE DEEMED TO BE OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED AND THE COMPETITION CLOSED AT THE COMMENCEMENT OT THE PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY.

15. DRIVING RANGE OUT OF BOUNDS: DEMARCATED WITH WHITE STAKES.

16. GPS: ARE ALLOWED ONLY FOR DISTANCE.


LOCAL RULES

•·         Out of Bounds:

Beyond all boundry fences, areas demarcated with WHITE STAKES right of 10th fairway, caddy shack, club building area and parking area.

•·         Hazards (rule 26)

Water hazards demarcated by yellow stakes (incl. Storm water drain 10th through 16th)

Lateral hazards demarcated by red stakes.

•·         A) Immovable obstructions (rule 24.2)

All fixtures being part of the course e.g. sprinkler heads, hazard stakes etc. are to be treated as obstructions.

•·         B) Movable obstructions (rule 24.1)

Stones in bunkers.

•·         Free Drop (rule 25)

All newly planted trees less than two club lengths high.

All flower beds.

From all roads in use on the golf course, (including golf cart paths).

•·         Placing

One club length on all fairways

Green edge one scorecard length not nearer the pin.

•·         Golf Carts

10 meters from all tees and greens.

 

NO METAL SPIKES ALLOWED ON THE GOLF COURSE.

NO SAND BAG NO PLAY.
